Trawling the Internet for that special voice we hear but can't seem to find doesn't occur nearly as often as it used to. Shazam and basic googling skills have made life fairly easy for everyone. When I saw one of those terribly entertaining adverts on Youtube again, I could almost feel my soul crying, but I no longer recall what I was trying to watch because I discovered this young man for the first time. The only issue was after sitting in a stupor of shock for minutes after it ended I didn't know who he was. However, my metaphorical prayers were answered when I heard the powerhouse featured on Rudimental's Feel The Love and the obsession that began refuses to subside.
My Dad claims that new music is a waste of soundwaves, and so having Anita, Luther and Aretha (his Jay Z album doesn't quite fit with my story) in our CD racks proved to be an education. To be honest, it takes absolutely no education to be able to tell that John Newman has a raw and mature blues sound that Ray Charles died with and Simon Cowell's next protégé would die for.
