I didn't know it at the time, but it was a privilege to see Chance the rapper at Florida's Hard Rock Cafe this summer. If you haven't already downloaded Acid Rap, you should. It's his trippy world delivered in the form of a free mixtape, only sparing you the actual trip. It's a mix and match of bright pianos, hammond organs, brass sections, soulful backing vocals, jerks in tempo and pure silence. Chance plays with his vocal pitch: he treats his voice like an instrument.
He made a short documentary to show for his first tour Social Experiment and it features the most sobering version of Wilhelm Scream. My favourite thing: he seems really happy and grateful to be doing it all.
