Adele is back and thank Jesus for that. The British music industry lacks a little while she's not around. Although it was nice to hear her version of Make You Feel My Love get recognition after The X Factor.
It was clear what direction her new album '21' was likely to go in, but months ago there was no real indication of what it was going to sound like. The first thing we hear from her new album is Rolling In The Deep, which reminds me so much of the 60s and the Shirelles that I want to cry with happiness, but she's definitely got some country influences in there. The first verse sounds like it was ripped out of a negro spiritual. As it builds to the chorus it's just pure motown-sounding goodness. Even my father would be incredibly impressed.
The video footage (which is mostly her staring into space), completely matches the emotions of the song of heartbreak and it basically features her being her.
Can't wait to hear more!
Listen to it here.
