Gillian Orr writes about how the fast-paced consumption of music on the Internet leads to a band's demise. Nowadays it's more regular that by the time a band has released their album no one cares anymore.

Rightly so, David Adcock, product manager at Columbia says “it’s come about because a lot of people have been quite desperate to prove themselves as A&Rs by being the first to discover the next big thing. That’s fine but it has been harmful to some artists who have been hyped very early on and perhaps not been read."

After reading that even I felt guilty. For a lot of people, like me, blogging started as a way to prove my credentials to record labels in order to get the job of my dreams. With that comes going crazy trying to find the latest songs. Which is impossible. It takes the fun out of it, and there's no real time to enjoy their music. Now I think I just do it for the love.
