To quote the great Aubrey Graham "Man I love my team, I would die for them n**gas." Every rapper has a team of equally great - but not always - artists in their crew. Apparently, the market was calling for an over-saturation these years past with Maybach Music Group, Odd Future, YMCMB, ASAP Mob, G.O.O.D. and whatever Chris Brown/Team Brezzy was/is/has. Usually there are members that fall through the cracks, (can you name all 12 members of Odd Future?) but G.O.O.D. presents a roster that have had reasonable success previous to their signing to the label. I would be lying if I said I knew who member Malik Yousef is, but my point is that while it seems Kanye is picking up every artist who had their 15 minutes, each sond they've come with in the lead up to the Cruel Summer has showcased the range of talent that they do have.
Kanye debuted New God Flow at the BET Awards on Sunday without Pusha, and it has set Twitter into hysteria. It has been trending for at least the last 24 hours and there's already a dedicated blog by Complex detailing the top ten lyrics from the song.
It might take a few days from the hype to die down, so we can't yet call the quintessential sound of the summer, but maybe we should wait and see.
