C'dawha best encapsulates Elli as we know her so far: a soul singer whose cutting voice and lyrical content is bit too left field to ever be guilty of being middle-of-the-road. Lyrics-wise, not even she knows completely what she's saying but the tease of the song comes across all the same.

Elli Ingram - Sober EP

Sober sounds like R'n'B coming home so much that you can hear the Amy and Lauryn in her voice. Ingram is so cemented in her own style that you immediately feel comfortable with her creations and listening is easy.

She also smashes her variations of hip hop tracks.

Erik Hassle - Talk About It

This is one of my favourite productions of the year. The drums sound souless in the verses but in the chorus it just explodes into this gaping hole of emotion.

Lorde - Everybody Wants To Rule The World

The best received singer of 2013 takes Tears for Fears' original a little darker for the Hunger Games Soundtrack. Between this and the Nas version, I think all angles have been covered.

Justin Bieber - All That Matters

It's nice that I can listen to this song proudly and not have to defend it by saying "He's talented but..." This is the kind of slow jam Chris brown needed to be making before he had his breakdown/retirement. I don't know what has been going on with Biebs this year, but it's clearly working for his music.

Confident feat. Chance the Rapper is another good listen.
